How can they do it?

I love fresh pineapples so when at Costco today headed for the fresh fruit department. Was surprised to find pineapples for $1.99 each. Started thinking, Just how can they and the growers make any money selling them for that price. Pineapples normally takes 18 months to grow and they only get one pineapple from each plant. Oh well I'm happy with the price and plan to enjoy it.

I don't know how they do it either, but I do like them. But, we pay about $4.00 for one. I guess you are closer to the growers!

Saw some in Safeway for $3.99. Grown in the same country and had the same brand. Even at that price there just can't be much profit.
